Op 15 en 16 december 2011 zal het jaarlijkse ASPO-congres georganiseerd worden door de Universiteit van Tilburg. Zoals elk jaar biedt dit congres iedereen de mogelijkheid om in contact te komen met andere sociaal-psychologische onderzoekers, eigen onderzoek te presenteren, en op de hoogte te blijven van recente ontwikkelingen in de Nederlandse Sociale Psychologie.

Aan dit congres is de uitgave van het Jaarboek Sociale Psychologie verbonden, waarin de congrespresentaties zijn opgenomen. Onderzoekers die een presentatie op het ASPO-congres willen houden dienen per e-mail een Nederlandstalige samenvatting van hun manuscript (< 400 woorden), 5 kernwoorden en de namen van drie senior (gepromoveerde) en 3 junior (niet gepromoveerde) geschikte reviewers op te sturen. De reviewers mogen niet werkzaam zijn aan de eigen universiteit. Deze informatie moet op maximaal 2 pagina’s staan en als pdf worden ingezonden uiterlijk dinsdag 7 juni 2011 (naar Niels van de Ven, n.v.d.ven@tilburguniversity.edu.

De redactie bestaat dit jaar uit Matthijs Baas (UvA), Lotte van Dillen (UL), Daniël Lakens (TUE), Anne Marike Lokhorst (WUR), Madelijn Strick (RUN) en Niels van de Ven (UvT). De redactie wil erop wijzen dat het onderzoek op het moment dat de samenvatting wordt ingediend reeds in een vergevorderd stadium moet verkeren. Dat wil zeggen: In de samenvatting van maximaal 400 woorden moet men de belangrijkste hypothesen, resultaten en conclusies kunnen geven, alsmede inzicht in de gebruikte onderzoeksmethoden. Op basis van de korte samenvattingen wordt een deel van de inzenders uitgenodigd om een uitgebreidere Nederlandse samenvatting (< 1000 woorden, die uiteindelijk gepubliceerd zal worden) en een appendix met een methode en resultatensectie (ten behoeve van het review proces) in te sturen, die voor review zullen worden uitgezonden. Als de reviewers en editor positief zijn, wordt de indiener uitgenodigd voor een presentatie op het ASPO congres in Tilburg en publicatie in het ASPO Jaarboek 11 (onder voorbehoud van eventueel door de editor noodzakelijk geachte wijzigingen). De presentaties op het congres mogen eventueel in het Engels gegeven worden, zolang de bijdrage in het Nederlands wordt geschreven. Voor de precieze invulling van de nieuwe procedure verwijs ik u naar bijgaande brief van het ASPO bestuur waarin de nieuwe invulling van het ASPO Jaarboek besproken wordt.

Net zoals vorig jaar zal tijdens het ASPO congres ook de ASPO Jaarboek Prijs worden uitgereikt aan de eerste auteur van de beste bijdrage aan het jaarboek. De redactie van het jaarboek is tevens de jury. De winnaar van deze prestigieuze prijs ontvangt een plakkaat en een geldprijs ter waarde van €250,-. Tevens wordt de winnaar uitgenodigd een plenaire presentatie te geven op het ASPO-congres te Tilburg.

Wat betreft de bijdragen wordt uitgegaan van het volgende tijdschema:

7 juni Samenvatting (in PDF formaat) van maximaal 400 woorden, 5 kernwoorden en de namen van geschikte reviewers per e-mail bij de redactie.

eind juni Auteurs krijgen reactie van de redactie of hun inzending kan worden uitgewerkt in een uitgebreide samenvatting

9 sep Uitgebreide samenvatting (met appendix met data) in bezit van de redactie (per e-mail).

De redactie van het Jaarboek Sociale Psychologie stuurt vervolgens elk manuscript op naar een aantal leden van de ASPO en vraagt hen een korte opbouwende recensie (“review”) over het manuscript te schrijven.

Social Influence

People are influenced by numerous messages, products, advertising and other people on daily basis. Social influence concerns behavior by one person that is intended to change the way another person behaves, feels, or thinks. This popular and rapidly growing field examines various topics such as different forms of persuasion and resistance to influence; communication and social marketing; consumer decision making and more. Its immediate societal relevance has made social influence research a subject of steadily growing interest from both the scientific and the business communities.

With seven keynote addresses, each followed by a plenary discussion, the ASPO Herfstsymposium is designed to introduce you to the most recent, cutting-edge, research on issues including – but not limited to – evolutionary perspectives on social influence; the role of self-regulatory processes in consumer judgment; evidence based government communication; and the gap between science and the communication practice.

In order to achieve a fully interdisciplinary perspective on social influence, keynote addresses are delivered by researchers from various disciplines, including Public Communication; Marketing; Economic, Consumer, and Social Psychology.
