Knowledge transfer

Through research, social psychologists acquire a lot of new knowledge. It goes without saying that this knowledge should not remain with the researchers, but should be shared so that others can benefit from it. Firstly, social psychologists share their knowledge with other scientists. They do this, for example, by publishing their research in scientific journals and presenting it at scientific conferences. ASPO organises an annual two-day ASPO conference to promote the exchange of knowledge. During the conference members present and discuss their research results. The aim of the conference is to learn from each other and to inspire each other.

In addition to knowledge transfer among scientific colleagues, ASPO also aims to promote knowledge transfer to society. For example, every year ASPO organises the event “The Social Animal”, in which social psychologists present and clarify new social psychological insights in everyday terms for a broad audience. In addition, many members of ASPO are involved in advising social partners. Social psychologists affiliated to ASPO have close partnerships with, among others, NIBUD, the Tax and Customs Administration, the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) and the Netherlands Nutrition Centre.
